Recently, I tried chocolate granola for the first time.
It was one of those things that you have that is sooooooo good that you just have to keep having again and again.
Before you know it, it’s gone, and you have to buy more.
This cycle keeps repeating until it becomes yet another grocery staple.
This isn’t all bad or anything except for the fact the granola I tried was 8 bucks a bag!!
There is no way I was about to keep paying 8 extra dollars a week for something I could easily make at home with ingredients I already had.
After a lot of research and experimenting, I came up with the perfect recipe that is just chocolatey enough while mimicking the granola I bought perfectly.
You are going to need
1. 3/4 cup oats
2. 3/4 cup puffed wheat
3. 2 tbsp coconut oil
4. 1/4 cup cocoa powder
5. 2 tbsp light brown sugar
6. 2 tbsp plus 2 tsp maple syrup
7. pinch of salt
10. pinch of cayenne
11. 1/8 tsp blackstrap molasses
Mix all the ingredients together except the puffed wheat and oats.
When it’s uniform, stir it with the puffed wheat and oats.
Spread on a baking sheet, and bake at 350 stirring every 10 minutes. Mine was perfect after 20 minutes.
Let cool, and enjoy!
What really makes this unique is the cayenne. It really adds an extra kick that you can’t quite pinpoint what it is, but it really makes it amazing.
