Healthier Chocolate Covered Popcorn

I don’t know about you guys, but if I were to choose between having something or having something covered in chocolate, 99% of the time I’m going to choose the chocolate covered one.

Popcorn definitely fits into this category.

The only problem is, it’s pretty difficult to find a chocolate covered popcorn that has ingredients that arguably could be good for you.

Popcorn itself IS indeed a healthy snack (it’s actually considered a grain).  What makes it unhealthy is when you add an abundance of unhealthy ingredients.

That’s why I have come up with this recipe.

You are going to need

1. 2 tbsp unpopped popcorn

2. 1 tbsp coconut oil

3. 1 tbsp cacao powder

4. 1 tbsp honey

5. 1 tbsp dark chocolate (optional but I highly recommend adding)

This recipe is extremely easy

Start by popping the popcorn.  This can be done quickly by putting the kernels into a large bowl and covering the top almost all the way with a plate.  (You need some space for steam to escape).

Pop for about 2 minutes.  You’ll know when they’re done by one test

See if the kernels are popped 🙂

When they ARE done, melt your cocoa powder, honey, dark chocolate, and coconut oil in a bowl.

Pour over the popped popcorn and set in the fridge to harden.

This doesn’t take long, and once it’s hardened you’re done!
